Board Meetings

The LGC holds its monthly board meetings on the second Saturday of each month at the Lake George Boutique, 1042 S. Angola Rd., Coldwater. Meetings start at 9:00 AM. The board welcomes the public, although we reserve the right to hold a closed session to discuss sensitive issues, if necessary.

Environmental testing is conducted regularly at Lake George to ensure our residents’ safety
and enjoyment of the lake. To review the environmental testing, please explore the links below.

Water Quality
The Lake George Conservancy (LGC) is dedicated to monitoring and reporting on the water
quality and ecological health of Lake George. In partnership with the Steuben County Lakes Council (www.lakescouncil.org), LGC conducts bi-annual water testing at multiple inlet sites. Testing occurs in early spring when agricultural and runoff pollutants are most prevalent, and in late summer, when water temperatures peak and lake activity is highest. Samples are analyzed for E. coli and phosphorus, with results compared to safety thresholds set by regulatory and environmental agencies.

An isolated test result exceeding safe levels is not necessarily alarming; sustained elevated
readings are the primary concern. A single high reading may result from temporary anomalies,
such as a dead animal or excessive rainfall. To enhance accuracy, LGC now employs DNA testing on E. coli samples to identify contamination sources—typically poultry, wildlife, or human, which may indicate a septic system failure upstream.
